UP ATS Arrests Four Suspects in Plot to Form 'Mujahideen Army' Aimed at Overthrowing Government

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has made a significant stride in counter-terrorism efforts by apprehending four individuals accused of forming a "Mujahideen Army" aimed at overthrowing the government and instituting Sharia law across the nation.
The detainees have been identified as Akmal Raza from Sultanpur, Safeel Salmani also known as Ali Razvi from Sonbhadra, Mohammad Tausif from Kanpur, and Qasim Ali from Rampur. According to ATS officials, the group was significantly influenced by radical factions in Pakistan, actively spreading extremist ideology, gathering funds, and plotting assassinations of non-Muslim leaders.
Raids led by the ATS resulted in the confiscation of weapons, incriminating documents, mobile phones, identification cards such as Aadhaar and PAN cards, along with debit and credit cards. They also seized digital evidence, including a PhonePe scanner used for financial transactions. The authorities disclosed that the suspects were conducting secretive meetings, distributing jihadi literature, and attempting to recruit others into their cause.
Interrogations have uncovered that the group was orchestrating violent jihad as a response to perceived injustices, with several targets already identified for assassination. The accused were found disseminating inflammatory audio and video messages to stir up their followers.
These four individuals are set to appear before a magistrate, where the ATS will request their custody to delve deeper into the investigation, aiming to discover broader connections and potential international ties.
This operation highlights the ATS's proactive stance in countering radicalization and terror financing networks that pose a threat to the nation's stability.
