Training Program Enhances Civil-Military Coordination: Tamil Nadu Police DSPs at Madras Regimental Centre

A two-week intensive training program for probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from the Tamil Nadu Police was held at the Madras Regimental Centre (MRC), Wellington, from October 6 to 18, 2025. The course aimed to acquaint the trainee officers with military-style discipline, operational planning, and the tactical use of modern technology in field operations.

Throughout the training, the DSPs engaged in exercises focused on basic military operations, small team tactics, and the management of new-generation weapons and equipment. They also observed demonstrations that highlighted the integration of technology in operational settings, offering them valuable insights into how the Indian Army employs innovation and precision in executing missions.

The trainees were introduced to the prestigious history and rich traditions of the Madras Regiment, one of the Indian Army’s oldest and most decorated infantry regiments. This structured exposure not only enhanced their leadership and decision-making abilities but also deepened their understanding of the military's operational ethos and teamwork.

This unique collaboration between the Tamil Nadu Police and the Indian Army marks a significant milestone in promoting stronger civil-military cooperation. The training is expected to improve coordination, preparedness, and mutual understanding between police and military forces during joint operations and crisis response scenarios.
