Territorial Army's First-Ever Female Recruitment Rally in Nagaland Marks a Historic Milestone

In a significant advancement for the Territorial Army, the 164 Infantry Battalion (TA) (Home & Hearth) NAGA, operating under the Eastern Command, held a successful recruitment rally at Zakhama Military Station in Nagaland from November 15 to 24, 2025.

This event was notable as it was the first time the Territorial Army welcomed young women into the recruitment process, supporting the Army’s wider initiative towards inclusivity and empowering women. The chosen candidates will become the inaugural group of female soldiers in the Territorial Army's Home and Hearth Battalions.

The rally attracted keen participation from local youth, highlighting the deep-seated desire among Nagaland's people to serve the country. Officials emphasized that the integration of women is a pivotal move towards enhancing the force's diversity, operational strength, and societal engagement.

This development reflects the Indian Army’s ongoing commitment to fostering gender-inclusive opportunities while increasing Northeast representation in the national defense framework.
