Surgeon Rear Admiral Ajit Gopinath Appointed as Additional Director General Medical Services (Navy)

Surgeon Rear Admiral Ajit Gopinath has assumed the role of Additional Director General Medical Services for the Navy. Before this new assignment, he was the Command Medical Officer at the Eastern Naval Command.

Surg RAdm Gopinath is a veteran in medical administration, having occupied critical positions such as Staff Officer (Medical) at CABS, Director of AFMS (CRD) in the office of the DGAFMS, JDMS (Personnel), and Commodore (MS-Health Services) at Naval Headquarters.

He is an alumnus of prestigious institutions including the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai, and the College of Defence Management in Secunderabad. His leadership experience includes commanding top naval hospitals, INHS Patanjali and INHS Sanjivani.

With a wealth of experience in medical services and health administration, Surg RAdm Gopinath is anticipated to significantly contribute to enhancing healthcare support within the Indian Navy and bolstering the capabilities of the Armed Forces Medical Services.
