The Junior Leaders Academy (JLA) in Bareilly recently concluded a four-week Potential Subedar Major Course on 07 October 2025, marking a significant achievement in its mission to develop proficient and disciplined Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) for the Indian Armed Forces.

The Junior Leaders Academy in Bareilly serves as a leading training center within the Indian Army, tasked with the important role of transforming JCOs and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) into capable and confident leaders. Renowned for its comprehensive curriculum focusing on leadership, military tactics, and character development, JLA aims to instill a sense of responsibility, initiative, and dedication in its trainees. Course Highlights

The Potential Subedar Major Course, a distinguished leadership program for JCOs, successfully trained 103 Subedar Majors and aspiring Subedar Majors from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Special Frontier Force (SFF), and Assam Rifles. The intensive four-week course was thoughtfully crafted to improve their tactical expertise, administrative competence, and leadership abilities — all crucial for taking on higher responsibilities in unit and formation management.

During the valedictory ceremony, the Commandant of JLA, Bareilly, addressed the graduates, emphasizing the essential role Subedar Majors play in upholding unit discipline, administration, and morale. He praised the participants for their commitment, professionalism, and eagerness to learn, highlighting that Subedar Majors serve as a vital link between officers and soldiers, ensuring cohesion and operational efficiency at all levels.

Award Winners

Sub Pawan Singh of the 94 Medium Regiment stood out among the participants by earning the titles of Overall Best Student and Best in Theory, showcasing his exceptional grasp of military tactics and leadership principles.

Sub Maj Sunil Singh Dogra from the Army Air Defence College (AADC) received the award for Best in Communications, demonstrating his excellent skills in operational communication and coordination — essential elements in modern warfare and field operations.

The successful completion of the course and the accomplishments of these JCOs affirm the Junior Leaders Academy’s steadfast dedication to nurturing excellence and professionalism among the future senior leaders of the Indian Armed Forces.
