Spear Corps GOC Reviews Assam Rifles Operational Readiness at Manipur Forward Post

Manipur, October 15, 2026: The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s Spear Corps visited an Assam Rifles forward post in Manipur on Wednesday to review operational preparedness and take stock of the prevailing security situation in the region.

During the visit, the Corps Commander was briefed on the troops’ readiness, their ongoing security responsibilities and the broader security environment in the area. The assessment focused on the preparedness of personnel deployed at strategically important locations and their ability to respond to emerging security challenges.

The Corps Commander also met soldiers stationed at the post and praised their professionalism, dedication and commitment to duty. He commended the troops for maintaining high standards of discipline and operational readiness while operating in a challenging security environment.

Assam Rifles, one of India’s oldest paramilitary forces, plays a key role in maintaining security across the northeastern states, particularly in Manipur, where its personnel are engaged in counter-insurgency operations, border security and other internal security responsibilities.

The Spear Corps, also known as III Corps, is headquartered at Dimapur in Nagaland and is responsible for overseeing Indian Army operations across parts of the northeastern region.

The visit reflected the Indian Army’s continued focus on operational preparedness, coordination with Assam Rifles and the need for troops in sensitive areas to remain vigilant and mission-ready.

It also served as recognition of the commitment shown by Assam Rifles personnel as they carry out their operational responsibilities in Manipur.
