Sepoy Akshit Sharma of 9 Punjab Regiment Loses Life in J&K Training Exercise

In a solemn announcement, the Indian Army has reported the tragic loss of Sepoy Akshit Sharma of the 9 Punjab Regiment. Sharma died on March 10, 2026, during a training exercise in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of White Knight Corps, along with all ranks, paid tribute to the soldier, recognizing his dedication and service to the country.

Initial accounts suggest that Sepoy Sharma disappeared during routine military training when he apparently fell into the Munawar Tawi river. His fellow soldiers quickly launched rescue efforts, but the river's strong currents and challenging terrain hindered immediate recovery.

In response to the incident, the Indian Army initiated a large-scale search and rescue mission in the river and nearby areas. Teams of soldiers and local rescue workers engaged in comprehensive operations despite difficult water conditions and rugged landscape.

The White Knight Corps formally expressed their condolences and support for Sharma's family in their official statement.
