Senior Cadre Course Ends with Parade at AMC Centre, Lucknow
The Army Medical Corps (AMC) Centre & College in Lucknow hosted a grand Course Ending Parade on June 18 to celebrate the completion of a rigorous 10-week Senior Cadre Course in Combat Medical Support and Leadership. The event was presided over by Major General Vinod Kumar Patra, who serves as the Commandant and Chief Instructor and has been pivotal in elevating the training standards since taking charge in February 2025.
A total of 92 non-commissioned officers (NCOs) from the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) graduated from the course, having been trained to provide superior medical support in combat scenarios. Key areas of focus included rapid triage, evacuation methods, trauma care, and field leadership—essential skills that enhance survivability and operational effectiveness in battlefield conditions. Historical data suggests that such comprehensive training can result in a 15% increase in casualty survival rates.
In his address, Major General Patra praised the commitment of the graduating NCOs and stressed the critical role of combat medical training in India's military readiness, particularly in light of ongoing operations along the nation's borders. He acknowledged the valuable combination of technical skill and military leadership developed during the course.
A poignant moment of the ceremony was the presentation of the Naik Deepak Singh VrC Rolling Trophy to Havildar Harsh Kumar Jha from MDC Jabalpur, who achieved the highest marks in the course. This award honors Naik Deepak Singh, a brave nursing assistant awarded the Vir Chakra posthumously for his valor during the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict, an event that claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers. The trophy serves to uphold the AMC's tradition of recognizing courage and excellence in military medical services.
The ceremony, which was attended by faculty, family members, and fellow servicemen, ended with a renewed commitment to the AFMS’s mission of delivering outstanding medical support to India's armed forces, with a significant focus on innovation, preparedness, and operational capability.
