Recovered Ordinance from Operation Sindoor Found During Dal Lake Cleanup in Srinagar

During a routine cleaning operation of Dal Lake on Saturday, the Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) officials uncovered remnants of a shell associated with Operation Sindoor, India's military action against Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack on April 22.

The remains were discovered near Oont Kadal, a location previously affected on May 10, 2025, when a missile-like object landed in the lake, triggering explosions that reverberated through Srinagar. The shell remnants have been transported to the nearest police station for further examination and necessary actions.

Operation Sindoor, executed in May 2025, was a significant Indian military response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack that resulted in the loss of 26 lives. The recent recovery highlights the operation's intensity and emphasizes the ongoing need for vigilance and effective management of the affected areas.

The authorities stated that the cleanup and recovery efforts are part of a broader initiative to maintain Dal Lake, which is a significant cultural and tourist site in Srinagar, while also ensuring public safety and environmental conservation.
