Rear Admiral Shantanu Jha Takes Command of Maharashtra Naval Area

On October 17, 2025, Rear Admiral Shantanu Jha, NM, officially assumed the position of Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area (FOMA), succeeding Rear Admiral Anil Jaggi. This transition marks an important leadership shift within the Indian Navy's western maritime command.

Rear Admiral Jha is a seasoned expert in Navigation and Direction, bringing over 30 years of exemplary service to his new appointment. His extensive career includes pivotal roles such as the Executive Officer of the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya and commanding duties on key warships like INS Nishank, INS Kora, and INS Sahyadri.

Before taking command of FOMA, Rear Admiral Jha served as Chief Staff Officer (Operations) with the Eastern Naval Command, where he honed his skills in strategic planning and operational management.

The command change highlights the Indian Navy's emphasis on operational proficiency, maritime security, and leadership stability in securing India's western coastline.
