Rear Admiral Sameer Sanjay Pote Takes Command as Indian Navy's Flag Officer Submarines
On May 1, 2026, Rear Admiral Sameer Sanjay Pote, YSM, officially assumed the role of the 19th Flag Officer Submarines (FOSM) within the Indian Navy. Rear Admiral Pote succeeded Rear Admiral Chetan C Chandegave in this significant position.

Rear Admiral Pote, a graduate of the Indian Naval Academy, joined the Indian Navy on January 1, 1996. He is a specialist in Anti-Submarine Warfare and has accumulated extensive operational and administrative experience through various important assignments over the years.

Before his current appointment, Rear Admiral Pote served as India's Defence Adviser to the United Kingdom at the High Commission of India in London, where he played a key role in bolstering defence ties between the two nations.

His leadership tenure includes commanding the INS Sindhuvir, a prominent submarine, underscoring his proficiency in underwater warfare operations. Additionally, he is an alumnus of both the Defence Services Staff College and the College of Defence Management.
The appointment of Rear Admiral Pote as Flag Officer Submarines is a pivotal development as the Indian Navy advances its underwater warfare capabilities and reinforces maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region.
