Rear Admiral Ravnish Seth Takes Command as Head of Naval Ship Repair Yard, Karwar
Rear Admiral Ravnish Seth, VSM, has assumed the position of Admiral Superintendent at the Naval Ship Repair Yard (NSRY) in Karwar as of 24 November 2025. This appointment represents a notable shift in leadership within the Indian Navy's framework for maritime maintenance and operational support.

Commissioned into the Engineering Branch on 30 November 1991, Rear Admiral Seth offers more than three decades of commendable service. A graduate of DSSC Wellington, Naval War College Goa, and the National Defence College in New Delhi, he has acquired several academic credentials from institutions such as JNU, DIAT Pune, Pune University, and Madras University.
Rear Admiral Seth has an impressive record as a Marine Engineer, having graduated at the top of his class from the Marine Engineering Specialisation Course at INS Shivaji. His naval experience includes serving on key frontline vessels like INS Khukri, INS Nishank, and INS Delhi. He also completed an important overseas role with the Mauritius Coast Guard in a technical capacity.

Over his career, Rear Admiral Seth has filled several critical positions, including roles as MSAQ, DGM (Cap) & AGM (Production) at Naval Dockyard Mumbai, JDOP (Tech) at NHQ/MoD, and Officer-in-Charge of GTTT in Mumbai. As Commanding Officer of INS Shivaji, he played a pivotal role when the establishment was honored with the President’s Colour, recognizing its excellence in service and training.
Upon his promotion to Flag Rank, he took on the roles of Director at DMDE Hyderabad and Chief Staff Officer (Tech) at the Eastern Naval Command. His outstanding contributions have been acknowledged with the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) in 2025.

In his role as Admiral Superintendent at NSRY Karwar, Rear Admiral Seth is expected to significantly enhance the Navy’s repair, refit, and maintenance operations, bolstering India's maritime capabilities along the western seaboard.
