Rear Admiral Deepak Singhal Takes Over as Chief Staff Officer (Training) at Southern Naval Command

Rear Admiral Deepak Singhal, VSM took over as the Chief Staff Officer (Training) at the Southern Naval Command (SNC) on October 16, 2025. He brings with him a wealth of experience in both operational and training capacities.

Having been commissioned on January 1, 1994, Rear Admiral Singhal is a graduate of the Naval Academy in Goa. His educational background further includes the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington, the Naval War College, and the National Defence College in New Delhi. Specializing in Navigation and Direction, he has occupied significant positions, notably serving as Captain Work Up at WWT (West).

Rear Admiral Singhal's career is marked by his command of several frontline warships, including INS Nirghat, INS Kora, INS Kulish, INS Delhi, and INS Mysore. His experience extends to important staff roles at Naval Headquarters and the Naval War College. Before stepping into his current position, he was the Commanding Officer of INS Angre, the Indian Navy’s largest Base Depot Ship.

His new role is expected to strengthen the Southern Naval Command’s commitment to improving training standards, operational preparedness, and leadership within the Indian Navy.
