Rear Admiral Arvind Rawal Appointed Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at Western Naval Command

Rear Admiral Arvind Rawal assumed the position of Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at the Western Naval Command on December 10, 2025. He brings with him over thirty years of extensive operational, technical, and leadership experience.

Admiral Rawal was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1992. He is a graduate of the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, the Naval War College in Goa, and the National Defence College in New Delhi.

Throughout his distinguished 33-year career, Rear Admiral Rawal has held key positions both domestically and internationally. His operational roles included assignments on major frontline warships such as INS Ranvijay, INS Rajput, and INS Shivalik. He also commanded INS Shivaji, a leading technical training institution of the Navy.

In terms of staff roles, he has completed three notable assignments at Naval Headquarters and also served as a Technical Advisor at the High Commission of India in Victoria, Seychelles.

Upon his promotion to Flag Rank on February 1, 2024, Rear Admiral Rawal took on the role of Director General Project-75, overseeing India's prestigious submarine construction program. He later served as the Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyard & Refit) at Naval Headquarters.

In his new capacity as Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at the Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Rawal will be responsible for overseeing technical operations, maintenance support, and capability enhancement within the Navy's leading command.
