Rashtriya Military School Dholpur's 15 Cadets Advance to Pre-National Shooting Championship

Rashtriya Military School Dholpur has made significant strides in competitive sports, with 15 of its cadets advancing to the Pre-National Shooting Championship after an outstanding showing at the 24th Rajasthan State Shooting Championship 2026.

The championship, organized by the Rajasthan Rifle Association, took place in Jaipur from June 14 to June 29, 2026. Representing RMS Dholpur, a team of 22 cadets competed against elite shooters from all over Rajasthan.

Exhibiting exceptional focus, discipline, and accuracy under pressure, 15 cadets met the qualifying criteria for the Pre-National Championship. This high qualification rate across rifle and pistol events underscores the cadets' dedication and highlights the success of the school’s structured shooting program.

This achievement further cements RMS Dholpur’s status as one of the top educational institutions in India that excels not only in academics but also in sports, military training, and leadership development.

Investment in Modern Sporting Infrastructure

This recent success is attributed to RMS Dholpur’s continued investment in sports infrastructure, professional coaching, and systematic talent development.

The school boasts a cutting-edge indoor shooting range, offering cadets training facilities akin to those found at major competitive venues. This facility allows cadets to practice regularly in a controlled environment, honing the technical skills necessary for rifle and pistol shooting events.

Regular practice schedules, scientific coaching methods, individual performance analysis, and participation in state and national competitions have fostered a competitive sporting environment at the institution.

Cadets showing potential in shooting are identified early on and receive focused training to enhance their accuracy, stability, confidence, and competitive temperament.

Expert Coaching and Mentorship

The shooting program at RMS Dholpur is guided by Shooting Coach Gopal and Teacher In-charge Kundan Singh Bhati.

Bhati, who has himself qualified for the Pre-National in the 50-metre Free Pistol event, brings valuable competitive experience to the table. Alongside Coach Gopal’s technical expertise, they play a crucial role in preparing cadets for high-pressure shooting competitions.

The coaches provide personalized attention to shooters, helping them refine their posture, breathing control, trigger technique, concentration, and emotional stability. The training also emphasizes maintaining composure and consistency during competitions.

The success of 15 out of the 22 participating cadets highlights the efficacy of the school’s coaching approach and the dedication shown by both the cadets and their mentors.

Shooting as a Medium for Character Development

At RMS Dholpur, shooting is perceived not just as a sport, but as a significant tool for character development.

Precision sports like shooting demand patience, concentration, emotional control, resilience, and decision-making under pressure. These attributes align closely with the school’s mission of nurturing disciplined future military officers, leaders, and responsible citizens.

Besides academics, cadets actively engage in sports, adventure activities, vocational education, and leadership programs. This balanced approach ensures their intellectual, physical, and moral development.

Participation in competitive shooting also instills the values of preparation, consistency, self-evaluation, and perseverance, which are beneficial both on the shooting range and in broader life and military challenges.

Principal Congratulates Cadets and Coaching Staff

Principal Lt Col (Dr) Amit Sharma, Vishisht Seva Medal, extended his congratulations to the cadets and coaching staff for their stellar performance at the Rajasthan State Shooting Championship.

He commended the dedication, discipline, and hard work of the participating cadets and their mentors, stating that such achievements inspire every student at the institution to strive for excellence with perseverance and commitment.

The Principal affirmed that RMS Dholpur will continue to enhance its sporting infrastructure and offer broader competitive exposure to its cadets.

The institution aims to prepare its athletes not only for state and national competitions but also for international platforms in the future.

The qualification of 15 cadets for the Pre-National Shooting Championship represents a significant milestone in the sporting achievements of Rashtriya Military School Dholpur, reflecting its ongoing commitment to developing disciplined, confident, and well-rounded young leaders through excellence in education, sports, and character development.
