Rajnath Singh's Upcoming Germany Visit to Enhance Defence and Strategic Collaboration

India's Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, is set to embark on an official three-day visit to Germany from April 21 to 23, 2026. The visit seeks to bolster bilateral defence and strategic relations between the two nations.

During his time in Germany, Singh will engage in discussions with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and other high-ranking government officials.

The discussions will predominantly focus on several key areas including defence industrial collaboration, military-to-military cooperation, and emerging fields such as cyber security, artificial intelligence, and drone technology.

Notably, two significant agreements are anticipated to be finalized during the visit. These agreements are the Defence Industrial Cooperation Roadmap and an Implementing Arrangement for UN Peacekeeping Training Cooperation.

The intent behind these agreements is to advance joint capability development and enhance training cooperation between the two countries.

Additionally, the Defence Minister is expected to engage with leaders from the German defence industry to explore opportunities for joint development and co-production under India's Make in India initiative.

This visit marks the first trip by an Indian Defence Minister to Germany in seven years, with the last visit occurring in 2019.

India and Germany enjoy a robust strategic partnership, which is firmly based on shared democratic values, adherence to a rule-based international order, and expanding defence and security cooperation.

The visit aims to further strengthen bilateral relations and contribute to peace, stability, and technological cooperation in defence on both regional and global scales.
