IMA Cadets Demonstrate Resilience Amidst Rain During Commandant’s Parade Prior to Passing Out
The Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun recently hosted a spirited Commandant’s Parade, where the Passing Out Course demonstrated remarkable discipline and confidence despite the rainy conditions. The inclement weather did little to diminish the enthusiasm of the Officer Cadets, who marched with pride as they approached the final step in their journey to becoming commissioned officers in the Indian Army.
The parade was overseen by Lt Gen Nagendra Singh, AVSM, YSM, SM, who serves as the Commandant of the Indian Military Academy. In his address to the Officer Cadets, he praised them for successfully navigating the Academy’s rigorous training regimen and exhibiting the qualities expected of future leaders in the Indian Army.
Lt Gen Nagendra Singh emphasized that the training at IMA is designed to challenge cadets on physical, mental, and emotional levels, equipping them for the responsibilities of military leadership. He commended the commitment, resilience, and perseverance demonstrated by the Passing Out Course throughout their training period.
He further highlighted the historic passing out of the first batch of Women Officer Cadets from the Indian Military Academy. This milestone, he noted, is significant in the Academy’s history and is indicative of the evolving role of women within the Indian Army.

The Commandant also acknowledged the presence of Foreign Officer Cadets undergoing training at the Academy, expressing hope that the friendships they forge at IMA would contribute to stronger diplomatic and military relations between India and its international allies.
He urged the Officer Cadets to maintain the highest traditions of the Indian Army and to bring pride to their families, the Army, and the nation through their selfless conduct, dedication, and professional excellence.

The Commandant’s Parade is a key event preceding the Passing Out Parade, marking the final phase of training for the Officer Cadets. It embodies the culmination of months of rigorous military instruction, leadership development, physical endurance, and character-building at one of the nation’s most esteemed military institutions.

As the Officer Cadets prepare to graduate from the Indian Military Academy, the parade underscored the institution's core values of honour, courage, discipline, and service before self.
