Raj Kumar Arora Takes Office as Controller General of Defence Accounts

Raj Kumar Arora, a veteran from the 1990 batch of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), has taken over the responsibilities as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA). His appointment is a pivotal move in the management of defence finances, and he brings extensive experience in areas such as financial policy, auditing, accounting, budgeting, procurement, and personnel management.
Throughout his notable career, Shri Arora has occupied several prominent roles within the Government of India. His previous assignments include serving as Additional Secretary at the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Finance Manager (Air) in the Ministry of Defence's Acquisition Wing, and Director in the Ministry of Finance. He has also held the position of Integrated Financial Advisor (IFA) across various Commands and field offices within the Defence Accounts Department.
Moreover, Shri Arora was instrumental in the former Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) as Member (Finance), where he played a significant part in guiding financial oversight and modernization in India’s defence production realm.
The position of Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) is the highest in the Defence Accounts Department, crucial for managing the financial affairs of India’s Armed Forces. In his new role, Shri Arora will oversee defence expenditures, audits, and provide financial advice throughout the Ministry of Defence.
With a strong background in financial governance and administrative prowess, Shri Raj Kumar Arora’s new role is anticipated to bolster fiscal discipline, transparency, and efficiency within the defence financial framework.
