Punjab's Mehakpreet Kaur Achieves Top Rank in Air Force Academy Merit List, Mai Bhago AFPI Cadets Excel

In a significant milestone for Punjab and aspiring female members of the Armed Forces, Mehakpreet Kaur, a cadet from the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls (AFPI), has achieved the top position in the Air Force Academy merit list with All India Rank (AIR) 1.

Mehakpreet, whose parents are Amarjit Singh, a farmer, and Rupinder Kaur from Paprali village in Ropar district, has been recognized as the leading candidate in the nation for entry into the Air Force Academy, despite the limited vacancies available for women in the defense sector.

In addition to Mehakpreet's success, another cadet from the institute, Komalpreet Kaur, attained AIR 18 for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla. She is the daughter of Havildar Gurmeet Singh of the Indian Army and Baljit Kaur from Shahura village in Amritsar district.

Both cadets come from modest backgrounds, exemplifying the institute's motto, "Shubh Karman Te Kabhu Na Taraun", which translates to never shying away from righteous action.

Punjab's Minister for Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training, Aman Arora, extended his congratulations to the achievers, emphasizing that their accomplishments symbolize the aspirations of a new Punjab and serve as an inspiration for young women throughout the state.

He highlighted that the Punjab Government's initiative to establish an NDA Preparatory Wing for girls at Mai Bhago AFPI in 2023 is already showing national-level results within a short span of three years.

Major General Jasbir Singh Sandhu (Retd.), Director of Mai Bhago AFPI, described Mehakpreet's AIR 1 status as extraordinary given the intense competition and limited opportunities for female candidates. He noted that both cadets have reinforced the institute's mission to inspire more daughters of Punjab to pursue careers in the Armed Forces.

This achievement underscores the vital role of military preparatory institutions in fostering future women officers and highlights the growing representation of women in India's defense services.

As Mehakpreet prepares to join the Air Force Academy and Komalpreet gears up for life at the NDA, these young achievers emerge as role models for future candidates nationwide and embody Punjab's increasing contribution to the leadership of the Armed Forces.
