PM Modi and Brazil's President Lula Strengthen Strategic Partnership Through Key Phone Discussion

Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a telephone conversation with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Thursday. The discussion centered around reinforcing the India–Brazil Strategic Partnership, emphasizing a commitment to cooperation across multiple sectors.
In a social media message, PM Modi shared, “Had a good conversation with President Lula. Thanked him for making my visit to Brazil memorable and meaningful. We are committed to deepening our Strategic Partnership including in trade, energy, tech, defence, health and more. A strong, people-centric partnership between Global South nations benefits everyone.”
The leaders discussed pivotal regional and global issues, emphasizing the necessity for increased collaboration among emerging economies. This dialogue follows PM Modi’s recent visit to Brazil, where both nations formalized a framework agreement to enhance cooperation in sectors like defence production, sustainable energy, agricultural innovation, digital technology, healthcare, and education.
According to diplomatic sources, both leaders highlighted the significance of a multipolar world order and advocated for greater cooperation through platforms such as BRICS and the G20.
President Lula expressed gratitude for India’s support in bolstering South-South cooperation and confirmed Brazil’s commitment to working closely with India on global governance reforms, climate initiatives, and equitable development.
This conversation is part of India’s strategic outreach to Latin American countries, aligning with the Modi administration’s broader foreign policy strategy.
