Pakistan Foreign Minister Clarifies Nuclear Policy Amid Regional Tensions

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has firmly refuted recent claims that the country would contemplate a nuclear strike against Israel in a potential conflict involving Iran. Addressing the National Assembly, Dar described these allegations as "completely baseless and irresponsible," emphasizing that Pakistan's nuclear policy is focused on national defense and maintaining regional stability.

This denial follows controversial comments from Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) General Mohsen Rezaei, who claimed that Pakistan had assured Tehran of a nuclear response if Israel used nuclear weapons against Iran. These statements, which gained significant traction in regional media, raised concerns about Pakistan's involvement in escalating Middle Eastern tensions.

Dar clarified that Pakistan's nuclear strategy is based on the principle of credible minimum deterrence and is not intended for offensive purposes. He stated, "Pakistan has consistently upheld international nuclear norms and is committed to non-proliferation. Our strategic capabilities exist solely to deter aggression and protect national sovereignty."

Dar's statement comes amid increasing hostilities between Israel and Iran, with recent military clashes resulting in significant casualties.
