OTA Chennai Awards Inaugural IT and Cyber Security Diplomas to Cadets
The Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai held its Diploma Award Ceremony on March 3, 2026. During the event, Officer Cadets from the Passing Out Course received diplomas in Information Technology and Cyber Security. These diplomas were awarded by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai.

This initiative was a result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between OTA Chennai and the SRM Institute. It marks the first occasion that Officer Cadets at the academy have been granted a diploma in IT and Cyber Security.

The curriculum for the program was designed to cover critical areas such as Cyber Security, Data Protection, and IT Fundamentals. This education aims to provide future officers with the technological expertise necessary for the complexities of modern warfare.

The diplomas were presented by Dr. C Muthamizh Chelvan, Vice Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, alongside Lieutenant General Michael A.J. Fernandez, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, who is the Commandant of OTA Chennai.
This initiative highlights the Indian Army’s emphasis on integrating digital skills, cyber awareness, and technological competence into its training programs, preparing officers for the dynamic challenges posed by contemporary military operations.
