NWWA Ghatkopar Opens Tailoring Training Facility for Naval Families
Navy Wives Welfare Association (NWWA) Ghatkopar inaugurated a tailoring facility for naval families on September 25, 2026, launching a vocational training initiative aimed at promoting wellness, self-reliance and livelihood opportunities.
The new facility has been set up to give participants practical, hands-on training in tailoring-related skills. According to the source material, the programme is intended to help naval family members build usable capabilities that can support both self-reliance and income generation.

Six participants began training at the facility, with the initial sessions covering machine operation, cutting, alterations and pattern designing. The programme is structured to expose them to different aspects of tailoring and allow them to practise the skills directly.
The hands-on training model is central to the initiative. Participants are being trained not only in operating sewing machines but also in learning the broader craft skills needed to carry out tailoring work independently.

NWWA Ghatkopar described the initiative as part of its broader effort to foster wellness and self-reliance among naval families. By creating a space for vocational learning, the association is also seeking to open up livelihood opportunities for those taking part in the training.
The inauguration also marked the start of the facility’s operational phase, with the first batch of six participants already undertaking practical sessions. The initiative has been undertaken under the NWWA theme “Anchoring Lives”, which reflects its focus on supporting naval families through welfare-oriented and skill-building efforts.
