NSG Launches Inaugural Crisis Management Training for Sri Lankan Police Officers

The National Security Guard (NSG) Training Centre in Manesar has launched its inaugural Crisis Management Course for 30 Sri Lankan Police officers, aligning with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Duty to Share initiative. This specialized training program, running from 22 September to 04 October 2025, signifies a new phase in regional collaboration on counter-terrorism and internal security.

The course spans two weeks and is designed to bolster the Sri Lankan law enforcement’s capabilities in managing complex security challenges. Participants will engage in intensive training that covers counter-terrorism operations, handling Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), coordination drills, crisis planning, reflex firing, and unarmed combat. The program's curriculum is meticulously crafted to equip officers with practical skills and strategic knowledge, enabling quick and effective responses in high-pressure scenarios.

Senior instructors from the NSG are conducting live demonstrations, field exercises, and simulated crisis scenarios to ensure the training is both realistic and rigorous. Beyond enhancing technical skills, the course emphasizes leadership, decision-making, and coordination, which are vital for managing crises at tactical and strategic levels.

This initiative highlights India’s dedication to regional security cooperation and its readiness to share valuable expertise with neighboring countries. By providing this specialized training to the Sri Lankan Police, India aims to strengthen interoperability and trust between the two nations.

The Crisis Management Course at Manesar also showcases the NSG’s status as a leading counter-terrorism force, known for its proficiency in handling high-risk operations. The training is anticipated to significantly enhance Sri Lanka’s capability to counter emerging security threats, while also deepening bilateral ties between the neighboring countries.
