NSG Climbs Mt Satopanth as Preparation for Everest 2026 Mission
A 12-member team from the National Security Guard (NSG) has demonstrated remarkable endurance and resolve by successfully reaching the summit of Mount Satopanth, which stands at 7,075 meters. This feat was achieved during their Pre-Everest Expedition conducted from October 13 to 24, 2025.
Led by Major Akhilesh Bhatt, the expedition marks a significant milestone in preparation for the NSG's upcoming Mt Everest Expedition in 2026. It highlights the force's unwavering spirit and readiness to operate beyond traditional domains of counter-terrorism.
Situated in Uttarakhand's Garhwal Himalayas, Mt Satopanth is renowned for its challenging weather, steep climbs, and glacial terrain, making it a daunting task even for experienced climbers. Despite facing severe cold, altitude fatigue, and the threat of unpredictable avalanches, the NSG team exhibited exceptional teamwork, discipline, and resilience, embodying the qualities for which the Black Cats are known.

The mission was also aimed at enhancing the team's endurance at high altitudes, improving leadership coordination, and boosting mission preparedness—skills essential for future operations in extreme environments. This expedition was both a challenge and a demonstration of the NSG's physical and psychological capabilities under risky conditions.

By successfully reaching the Mt Satopanth summit, the NSG reaffirms its dedication to excellence and its guiding principle—“Sarvatra Sarvottam Suraksha” (Best Security Everywhere). With the Everest 2026 expedition approaching, the NSG continues to challenge limits, setting new standards in bravery, training, and national pride.
The Black Cats are on a remarkable journey—from conquering the peaks of Satopanth to aspiring for the summit of the world.
