Nepal Army Captain Kamal Singh Thakuri Tops Merit List at MINTSD Pune Intelligence Staff Course
Military Intelligence Training School and Depot (MINTSD), Pune, has concluded its Intelligence Staff Course on 10 October 2026, with officers from 13 friendly foreign countries, along with personnel from Indian security forces, successfully completing the training programme.
The course brought together officers from Bhutan, Nepal, Ivory Coast, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Niger, Sri Lanka, Peru, Morocco, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Vietnam. In addition to the foreign participants, two students from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and one from the Indian Coast Guard also completed the course.

By bringing together participants from partner countries and Indian organisations at the Pune-based institution, the course added an international and inter-agency dimension to MINTSD’s professional training activity. The school and depot specialises in training related to military intelligence, and the Intelligence Staff Course is one of the programmes it conducts for personnel from India and abroad.
The course’s completion on 10 October 2026 marked the end of the latest batch of training at the institution, which serves as a common learning platform for military and security personnel. The programme was designed for officers and students from different services and countries to train together at one venue.

A highlight of the course was the performance of Captain Kamal Singh Thakuri of the Nepal Army, who secured first place in the Order of Merit. His result placed him at the top of the course merit list.
The successful conclusion of the programme reflects MINTSD’s role in providing specialised intelligence training to both Indian and foreign military personnel. With participants drawn from multiple countries as well as the ITBP and Indian Coast Guard, the course again demonstrated the institution’s mix of international cooperation and inter-service participation.
