NCERT to Incorporate Operation Sindoor in Textbooks, Receiving Acclaim from Army Veterans

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has decided to incorporate 'Operation Sindoor' into school textbooks. This initiative has received significant acclaim from Army veterans who view it as a crucial step in educating students about India's internal security operations.
Retired Wing Commander Praful Bakshi remarked on the operation's significance in India's battle against terrorism. He emphasized the importance of students and the general public understanding the impact of Operation Sindoor, which he described as a symbol marking the beginning of the end of terrorism in India.
Colonel Rajiv Khakera, a retired officer from the Army’s Corps of Air Defence, expressed pride in the decision. He highlighted the Army's strategic use of precision firepower and missile systems during the operation and said it is gratifying that children across the country will now learn about this significant event, potentially inspiring many to join the Army.
Lt Colonel Kapil Dutt (Retd.) praised the decision as well, noting that learning about Operation Sindoor could deeply inspire students. He believes it will ignite a sense of service and motivate many to consider careers in the armed forces.
Veterans assert that Operation Sindoor played a crucial role in shaping India's counter-terrorism strategies and should be memorialized in the national consciousness. They argue that including it in educational material ensures that the sacrifices of soldiers and lessons of modern warfare are passed on to future generations.
General P.S. Malhotra (Retd.) expressed his approval of the development, commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his outreach efforts through initiatives like 'Mann Ki Baat'. He stated that the inclusion of Operation Sindoor in NCERT books enhances the national identity.
NCERT plans to implement these changes in the upcoming academic session, which is part of a broader initiative to infuse military history and national pride into India's educational curriculum.
