NCC Maharashtra Seeks Dedicated Training Areas, Academy for Vidarbha Cadets in Amravati
Major General Vivek Tyagi, Additional Director General (ADG), NCC Maharashtra, held discussions with Nayana Gunde, IAS, Divisional Commissioner of Amravati Division, at NCC Group Headquarters in Amravati on expanding training, skilling and development opportunities for National Cadet Corps cadets in the region.
The meeting centred on ways to deepen cooperation between the NCC and the civil administration so that cadets can be better prepared for the future, with special attention to young people from remote and tribal areas. The discussions reflected a shared focus on creating wider access to infrastructure and programmes that can complement the NCC’s existing leadership, discipline and character-building framework.
A major point raised during the interaction was the need for dedicated training spaces for NCC camps. Both sides also discussed the identification of suitable assets for setting up an NCC Academy for the Vidarbha region, an initiative that could provide cadets with improved infrastructure and more structured training opportunities.
Gunde assured priority follow-up on the issues of training areas and the search for appropriate assets for the proposed academy, indicating administrative support for the plan.
Another key topic was the possible integration of NCC cadets, especially those from remote and tribal communities, with skill-development and youth-focused programmes sponsored by the Maharashtra government. Such a linkage, as discussed in the meeting, would give cadets exposure not only to NCC training but also to vocational skills, technology, innovation and employability pathways.
The proposed measures are intended to strengthen the NCC ecosystem in Vidarbha and widen the reach of its benefits to young people in areas where specialised training and career-development opportunities are often limited. The interaction between NCC Maharashtra and the Amravati civil administration was presented as part of a broader effort to ensure that cadets gain greater access to both institutional support and emerging opportunities.
