NCC Cadets Successfully Complete Para Jump Training at Army Airborne School in Agra

In a significant achievement highlighting the capabilities of India's youth, both male and female National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets have successfully completed a challenging Para Jump at the Army Airborne Training School (AATS) in Agra. The event, coordinated under the auspices of the Indian Army and led by Director General NCC, Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, represents a noteworthy advance in youth empowerment and military preparedness.

The Para Jump, an intensive exercise typically associated with elite units like the Para SF and MARCOS, involved 60 motivated cadets showcasing remarkable bravery, discipline, and dedication. The cadets underwent a demanding 12-day ground training period, which covered parachute jumping techniques, packing, and repair in line with NCC guidelines. This rigorous training concluded with their successful jumps, demonstrating the high standards of the Basic Airborne Course.

Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, drawing on his extensive experience in the Special Forces, led the initiative to incorporate this elite skill into the NCC training program. This activity demonstrates the Indian Army's commitment to equipping a diverse and capable youth population for national service, in alignment with the 2020 Supreme Court decision that allowed women to serve in combat roles. Including female cadets in this exercise further emphasizes the commitment to gender equity in defense training.

By successfully completing the Para Jump, cadets earn the distinguished Para-Wings to wear on their uniforms and are also positioned as potential candidates for special entry into elite forces such as the Para SF.
