Mrs Archana Dixit assumes charge as AFFWA President after Sarita Singh’s tenure ends

New Delhi, October 31, 2026: Mrs Archana Dixit has formally taken over as President of the Air Force Families Welfare Association (AFFWA), succeeding Mrs Sarita Singh, who has completed her tenure after steering a series of welfare initiatives for Indian Air Force families.

The handover marks the end of Mrs Sarita Singh’s leadership of the association, during which AFFWA continued to broaden its welfare outreach and reinforce its support for the well-being and empowerment of the Air Force fraternity. Her tenure was noted for efforts to strengthen existing programmes while also widening the association’s reach among beneficiaries.

One of the central areas of focus during Mrs Sarita Singh’s tenure was the welfare of Veer Naaris (war widows), children with special needs and families of Indian Air Force personnel. The initiatives under her leadership were aimed at ensuring inclusivity, dignity, equal opportunity and practical support for those requiring additional care and assistance.

Under her stewardship, AFFWA worked to build on its established welfare programmes while introducing additional avenues for assistance, empowerment and community development. The association’s efforts were directed at responding to the changing needs of Air Force families and ensuring that support reached those for whom it was intended.

Mrs Sarita Singh’s tenure also saw continuing efforts to expand AFFWA’s outreach and strengthen its role as a support system for serving personnel, veterans and their families. For decades, the association has been associated with educational, social and community-based initiatives designed to support Air Force families and help those facing difficult circumstances.

AFFWA acknowledged Mrs Sarita Singh’s leadership, dedication and contributions, describing her tenure as one marked by compassion, inclusivity and a stronger welfare network within the Air Force community.

With Mrs Archana Dixit now at the helm, AFFWA begins a new phase in its continuing mission to support and empower Indian Air Force families while carrying forward its long-standing welfare work.

The transition in AFFWA leadership came alongside a broader change in the Indian Air Force on October 31, 2026, when Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh retired as the 28th Chief of the Air Staff and Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit took over as the 29th Chief of the Indian Air Force.
