Minerva Public School Triumphs in Subroto Cup U-15 Sub Junior Boys Category

The Indian Air Force (IAF) recently organized the 64th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament, where Minerva Public School from Mohali (CISCE) claimed victory in the Sub Junior Boys (U-15) category by defeating Vidyachal International School from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, with a commanding score of 6-0.

This event highlighted the IAF's commitment to nurturing young athletic talent across India. During the trophy presentation, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Training Command, handed over the winners' trophy. P.R. Sreejesh, a recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna awards and a former Indian hockey goalkeeper, awarded the Fair Play Trophy along with ₹50,000 to Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Pakur.

Supported by the State Bank of India (SBI) and featuring international teams, the tournament underscores India's advancing sports infrastructure. A 2019 study published in the Journal of Sports Sciences points out that early exposure to competitive sports is crucial for enhancing long-term athletic development, a concept that this esteemed tournament embodies.

The IAF has extended its best wishes to all players, officials, and organizers as the competition moves forward to the U-17 Boys category, anticipating further thrilling football encounters in the days to come.
