Meet Anuj Agnihotri Who Topped UPSC CSE 2025

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, and Anuj Agnihotri has secured All India Rank 1, emerging as the topper of one of India’s most prestigious and competitive examinations. His remarkable achievement has brought pride to his family, hometown, and countless aspirants who dream of serving the nation through the civil services.

Anuj Agnihotri hails from Rajasthan and spent much of his early life in Rawatbhata, a town known for its nuclear power facilities. Growing up in a modest environment, he demonstrated academic excellence from a young age. His schooling was completed at Atomic Energy Central School, after which he pursued his higher secondary education at M.B. Public Senior Secondary School in Kota, a city widely known for producing top academic achievers.

After completing his school education, Anuj pursued a medical degree and secured admission to the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur. He successfully completed his MBBS degree in 2023. While medicine offered him a promising professional career, Anuj felt a deeper calling toward public service and governance. This aspiration motivated him to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, widely regarded as one of the toughest examinations in the country.

Before securing the top rank in UPSC CSE 2025, Anuj had already entered the field of administration. He was serving as a probationer in the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS), which gave him exposure to administrative responsibilities and governance. This experience is believed to have strengthened his understanding of policy implementation and public administration, which proved valuable during his UPSC preparation and interview stage.

The Civil Services Examination is conducted in three stages — the Preliminary Examination, the Mains Examination, and the Personality Test or Interview. Each year, lakhs of candidates appear for the examination, but only a small number make it to the final merit list. In the 2025 examination cycle, the final results were declared on March 6, 2026, with 958 candidates recommended for appointment to various services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Anuj Agnihotri’s journey to the top reflects discipline, determination, and a clear vision of serving the country. Transitioning from the demanding field of medicine to the equally rigorous preparation for civil services required immense dedication. His success story demonstrates that candidates from diverse academic backgrounds can excel in the UPSC examination with focused preparation and perseverance.

Apart from academics, Anuj is known to be interested in sports and has often spoken about drawing inspiration from Indian sports icons such as cricketer Virat Kohli and hockey legend PR Sreejesh. Their dedication and resilience have motivated him in his own journey of preparation and self-improvement.

With the announcement of the UPSC CSE 2025 results, Anuj Agnihotri now stands as an inspiration for thousands of aspirants across the country. His achievement not only highlights the value of hard work and perseverance but also reinforces the spirit of public service that drives young Indians to join the civil services and contribute to the nation’s development.
