MCEME's 109th Convocation Celebrates Academic Excellence and Technological Innovation

The Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Secunderabad celebrated its 109th Convocation Ceremony on June 27, 2026. During the event, Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degrees were awarded to 32 officers from the Degree Engineering (DE-106) Course and 13 officers from the Technical Entry Scheme (TES-44) Course, including four officers from allied foreign nations.

The degrees were presented by Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, AVSM, VSM, the Commandant of MCEME and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME). He extended his congratulations to the graduating officers for reaching an important phase in their professional and technical journey.

Among the graduates, Major Bhartendu Negi stood out as the Overall Best Student of the DE-106 Course. He was honored with the DGEME Trophy, the DGEME Gold Medal, and the GOC-in-C ARTRAC Book Prize. Additionally, Captain Prabhat Chandra, Captain Gautam, and Captain Reshiv Kashyap received the Commandant's Silver Medal for their top performances in the Mechanical and Electronics streams.

In the TES-44 Course, Lieutenant Sahib Singh was recognized as the Overall Best Student and was awarded the GOC-in-C ARTRAC Trophy, along with a Book Prize and the DGEME Gold Medal. Honors in the Mechanical and Electronics streams went to Lieutenant Gem Phub of the Royal Bhutan Army and Lieutenant Anuj Vashisht, respectively, who both received the Commandant's Silver Medal.

During his address to the graduates, Lt Gen Varshney encouraged the officers to continue pursuing lifelong learning and strive for professional excellence and innovation. Citing inspirations from notable figures such as Marcus Cicero, Carl Gustav Jacobi, St. Augustine, Munshi Premchand, and Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, he stressed the importance of adaptability, perseverance, resilience, and integrity in military leadership. He urged them to embrace change and uphold the values and ethos of the Indian Army in their careers.

The convocation also featured an exhibition of innovative technology projects developed by the graduating officers. Highlights included the "Acoustics-Based Gun Shot Localisation & Detection System with Map Overlay," which was named the Best Project in the DE-106 Course, and the "AI-Powered Offline Semantic Search Engine," which won the Best Project award in the TES-44 Course.

The ceremony reaffirmed MCEME's dedication to nurturing technologically adept military leaders and promoting innovation and indigenous defense technologies in alignment with the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
