Major General MPS Gill Reviews Training Initiatives at RIMC Dehradun

Major General MPS Gill, VSM, who serves as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Uttarakhand Sub Area, recently visited the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun. The purpose of his visit was to assess the training programs and the state of infrastructure development at the institution.
Maj Gen Gill, an alumnus of the RIMC, the National Defence Academy, and the Indian Military Academy, was commissioned into the 18 Mechanised Infantry in 1989. His 36-year military career includes the command of an armoured brigade on India's western front, a role of strategic importance due to the India–Pakistan security concerns.

During his engagement with the cadets, Maj Gen Gill emphasized the need for them to maintain integrity and uphold ethical standards. He also encouraged them to build physical and mental resilience throughout their five-year tenure at RIMC. He praised the institution’s impressive track record in preparing students for the National Defence Academy, citing a nearly 90% success rate according to Ministry of Defence statistics.

The GOC lauded Colonel Rahul Agarwal, the Officer Commanding RIMC, along with the faculty for their unwavering dedication to mentoring. An award ceremony took place where both Maj Gen Gill and Col Agarwal were honored for the college’s achievements in the recent UPSC examinations. The latest report from RIMC shows a 15% increase in top-tier placements over the previous year, highlighting the institution’s dual focus on academic and military excellence.

The visit concluded with a group photograph taken in front of the iconic Thimaya Auditorium, symbolizing the strong connection between the leadership of the Armed Forces and the cadets who represent the future of military service. Maj Gen Gill’s visit reaffirmed RIMC’s standing as a leading feeder institution for the Indian Armed Forces.
