Major Aishwainee VG Honored at AFMS Graduation Parade in Lucknow
The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) achieved a significant milestone with the ceremonial parade of the Medical Officers Basic Course (MOBC-253) at the AMC Centre & College, Lucknow. This event marked the culmination of training for 121 young medical and dental officers, including 32 women, who are now prepared to serve in various military and humanitarian roles.
The parade was presided over by Lt Gen Shivinder Singh, AVSM, Commandant of AMC Centre & College. He praised the graduates for their dedication and encouraged them to maintain compassion, humility, and professionalism throughout their careers.
Drawing on his extensive 37-year career, including his role as MG Med at Headquarters Northern Command, Lt Gen Singh, a specialist in cardiac anaesthesia and critical care, offered inspiration to the newly trained officers.

A prominent moment during the event was the recognition of Major Aishwainee VG from CH (NC), who was named the Best All-Round Officer of the course. Her accomplishment highlights the growing role of women in the Armed Forces, aligning with the Ministry of Defence’s report of an increase in female officer representation from 3% in 2010 to 9.3% in 2023.

The MOBC-253 training program covered military ethos, combat casualty care, and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), equipping officers to handle high-pressure operational situations. The ceremony was attended by senior officials and dignitaries and concluded with traditional military honors such as the flag ceremony and the jubilant tossing of caps.

The AFMS reiterated its dedication to developing a robust medical corps capable of meeting the healthcare challenges of modern warfare and humanitarian missions. The newly commissioned officers were commended for their smooth transition and were wished success in their future service to the nation.
