The discussion highlighted the need for a smooth and well-supported transition for service personnel approaching retirement. According to the interaction, the emphasis was on welfare measures, empowerment and resettlement assistance designed to help demobees prepare confidently for life after uniformed service.
Maj Gen Bhatnagar told the personnel to approach the process with confidence and to make full use of the welfare and resettlement opportunities available to them. He also stressed that support for soldiers should not end with their active service, but continue as they begin the next stage of their lives.
The visit also served to underline the importance of recognising the service of soldiers and ensuring that their shift into civilian life is managed with dignity and adequate institutional backing.
