Mahindra Group Presents Thar Roxx-Based Military ATV for Indian Army Evaluation
The Mahindra Group has introduced a new All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), based on the Thar Roxx, specifically engineered for military applications. The vehicle is intended for evaluation and trials by the Indian Army.
Constructed as a dedicated platform for security forces, the ATV features numerous structural and functional enhancements to boost its capability in combat and challenging terrains. The Indian Army is expected to conduct assessments before any procurement decisions are finalized.
Drawing from the Thar Roxx design, the ATV includes a robust array of features such as all-terrain tires, a reinforced roll cage, rock sliders, and underbody protection. In an effort to enhance flexibility and reduce weight, the doors and roof have been removed, while metal pipe structures and grab handles are installed to improve mobility and accessibility in the field.

One of the standout features is its modular design, which includes a 360-degree turret mount compatible with a 7.62 mm medium machine gun, along with additional mounting points for other equipment. It is also equipped with a winch, farm jack, and jerrycan holder, facilitating extended operations in isolated locations.
Powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine, the ATV delivers 172 hp and 400 Nm of torque and is equipped with a 4x4 drivetrain and automatic transmission. Its suspension and increased ground clearance allow it to tackle difficult terrains such as rocky surfaces and off-road environments effortlessly.
Additional features include MOLLE storage systems for transporting military supplies and reinforced hoist brackets that enable airdrop capability, which is crucial for rapid deployment scenarios.
This new vehicle represents another chapter in Mahindra's enduring partnership with the Indian armed forces, who have previously utilized models like the Armado, Marksman, and Scorpio Classic.
The introduction of this ATV underscores a continuing focus on indigenous defense mobility solutions, in line with India's initiative to advance self-reliance and modernization of its military arsenal.
