The Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya has welcomed a new Commandant, as Lieutenant General Vivek Kashyap, who holds the prestigious PVSM, AVSM, and VSM honors, took charge as the 12th leader of the institution. He takes over from Lieutenant General Sukriti S Dahiya, SM, VSM, whose tenure was noted for significant contributions to the academy.

This leadership transition was announced by the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), with Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC, along with other ranks, extending their best wishes to both the departing and incoming Commandants.

Bringing with him 38 years of service, Lieutenant General Vivek Kashyap is equipped with extensive operational and strategic expertise. His career includes significant command and staff roles, with proficiency in mechanised warfare, combat leadership, and cyber operations. His leadership is anticipated to enhance the academy’s training programs and overall ability to develop future leaders for the Army.

Situated in Bihar, OTA Gaya is a premier pre-commissioning institution of the Indian Army, dedicated to preparing cadets for commissioned service. The academy plays a crucial role in transforming young men into officers, instilling core values such as discipline, leadership, and professionalism.

Defense officials have expressed confidence that Lieutenant General Kashyap’s extensive experience will be instrumental in the academy’s development, ensuring it continues to produce officers ready to tackle the challenges of modern warfare.
