Lt Gen Virendra Vats Reviews NCC Expansion Initiatives in Rajasthan, Meets with CM Sharma
Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, who serves as the Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), conducted his first official visit to the NCC Directorate in Rajasthan, Jaipur, on May 7–8, 2026.
During this visit, the DG NCC engaged in a detailed meeting with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, focusing on significant issues concerning the expansion of NCC programs and the welfare of cadets in the region. Key topics of the discussion included proposals for land allocation and financial support to establish a dedicated NCC Training Academy in Rajasthan.
Additional matters on the agenda involved seeking approval for increased manpower under the NCC Expansion Plan and the provision of 3-tier AC travel facilities for cadets, which aim to enhance accessibility and involvement.
Later, Lt Gen Vats visited the NCC Directorate, where the Deputy Director General provided a thorough briefing on the functioning, training activities, and outreach efforts of NCC units throughout the state.
The visit highlighted the NCC's ongoing commitment to broadening its reach, improving infrastructure, and bolstering youth development initiatives, all of which align with its goals of nation-building and fostering leadership skills.
