Lt Gen Virendra Vats Honors Medal-Winning Cadets at NCC’s AIVSC-26 in Day 11 Visit

Day 11 of the All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC-26) featured a high-profile visit by Lt Gen Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), who met cadets, reviewed camp activities and felicitated medal winners at the Air Wing gathering.

Lt Gen Vats was received at the Central Hall by the Camp Commandant and presented a Guard of Honour on arrival. The ceremonial welcome reflected the discipline and coordination of the Air Wing cadets taking part in the camp.

During his visit, the NCC Director General viewed a static display of Apache helicopter aeromodels prepared by the cadets. The display highlighted their technical skill, imagination and craftsmanship, along with the patience and effort invested in aeromodelling activities. He was also presented with a detailed camp report covering the activities and achievements recorded over the first 11 days of AIVSC-26.

The day’s main ceremony saw Lt Gen Vats personally honour cadets who won medals in Skeet Shooting, .22 Firing, Aeromodelling, Health and Hygiene, and Cross Country. The awards recognised sustained practice and commitment across a range of competitions that formed part of the camp programme.

After the felicitation, Lt Gen Vats interacted with the media and later joined cadets for lunch at the Central Hall, giving the NCC leadership an opportunity to engage directly with the participants and acknowledge their progress during the camp.

Meanwhile, the Tent Pitching Competition reached its halfway stage, with contingents testing their speed, coordination and teamwork as they worked against the clock. Cadets raised the canvas, secured ropes and completed assigned tasks together, turning the event into a practical exercise in cooperation and efficiency under time pressure.

The remaining contingents are scheduled to complete the competition the following day as AIVSC-26 moves towards its concluding stage. With all other competitions reported to have ended, attention has now shifted to the final phase of the camp and the completion of the last remaining contest.

For the medal winners, the felicitation offered formal recognition of their performances. For the wider group of participants, the day continued to provide opportunities to compete, learn and refine their skills through the camp’s various activities.

Lt Gen Vats’s visit placed the focus on the core values emphasised at the NCC camp: discipline, technical creativity, sporting performance and teamwork. As AIVSC-26 enters its final stage, cadets continue to use the platform to display ability, gain experience through competition and reinforce the standards associated with the National Cadet Corps.
