Lt Gen Ulhas Kirpekar Reviews Army Readiness, Defence Innovation Ecosystem in Hyderabad

Lieutenant General Ulhas Kirpekar, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Dakshin Bharat Area, recently visited Headquarters Telangana & Andhra Sub Area and several training centres in Hyderabad, where he reviewed operational preparedness, training standards and ongoing capability development efforts.

During the visit, the senior Army officer assessed the readiness of the formations under the sub area and interacted with troops on the ground. He praised their professionalism, dedication and high morale, while also stressing the need to maintain strict training standards and remain prepared for changing operational challenges.

The visit also included a review of Hyderabad’s training ecosystem, with Lt Gen Kirpekar examining measures intended to strengthen personnel capabilities and improve overall effectiveness. The focus was on ensuring that training support structures continue to contribute to operational preparedness in a practical and sustained manner.

In addition to military formations and training establishments, Lt Gen Kirpekar took stock of Hyderabad’s growing defence innovation landscape. As part of the visit, he went to T-Hub and T-Works, where he was briefed on indigenous technological advancements and new solutions that could have applications for the Armed Forces.

The technologies showcased during the interaction included work in Artificial Intelligence, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), robotics and quantum technologies. These areas reflect the expanding role of indigenous and advanced technology in strengthening India’s defence capabilities.

Lt Gen Kirpekar acknowledged the contribution of Hyderabad’s innovation ecosystem in developing advanced solutions and highlighted the importance of the “Design & Make in India” approach in building a technologically advanced and future-ready force.

The visit reflected the Indian Army’s continued emphasis on combining operational readiness and high-quality training with indigenous innovation and emerging technologies as it prepares for future security challenges.
