Lt Gen Sukriti Singh Dahiya Inaugurates Bengal Sappers Data Hub, SAMADHAAN in Roorkee

Roorkee, October 24, 2024: The Bengal Sappers have inaugurated two new administrative initiatives at the Bengal Engineer Group (BEG) Centre in Roorkee — the Bengal Sappers Data Hub and SAMADHAAN — in a move aimed at improving digital management, administrative efficiency and welfare support for serving personnel, veterans and their dependents.

The initiatives were inaugurated on October 24, 2024 by Lieutenant General Sukriti Singh Dahiya, SM, VSM, Colonel Commandant of the Bengal Sappers and Military Survey. The launch reflects the regiment’s effort to modernise internal processes while strengthening the systems that handle records, grievances and other service-related matters.

The Bengal Sappers Data Hub has been established to support the digitisation and efficient management of service records and official documents. It is intended to replace conventional record-keeping practices with a more organised and dependable digital framework that can be accessed more easily when needed.

According to the information released on the initiative, the Data Hub is expected to improve the accuracy, transparency and accessibility of personnel records. This, in turn, should help with timely promotions, career management and faster administrative decisions. It is also designed to reduce delays linked to manual documentation and traditional record handling.

Alongside this, the regiment introduced SAMADHAAN, a dedicated grievance redressal initiative meant for serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and their dependents. The system is designed to ensure that complaints and requests are handled through a transparent, structured and time-bound process.

SAMADHAAN places emphasis on monitoring, accountability and timely resolution. The objective is to provide personnel and their families with more reliable administrative assistance, particularly in cases involving service-related issues, documentation and other concerns requiring official support.

The new grievance mechanism is particularly relevant for veterans and dependents who may need support with service records, documentation or other administrative requirements. By creating a more structured process, the Bengal Sappers aim to improve responsiveness and reinforce confidence in institutional support systems.

Together, the Data Hub and SAMADHAAN represent the Bengal Sappers’ effort to combine modern technology with a stronger focus on personnel welfare. The two initiatives also align with the Indian Army’s wider emphasis on digital empowerment, transparent governance and administrative efficiency.

With the launch at the BEG Centre in Roorkee, the Bengal Sappers have added two systems intended to make administrative processes more efficient, accountable and digitally enabled, while also supporting soldiers and their families during and after military service.
