Lt Gen SS Dahiya Evaluates Innovation and Training Initiatives at MCEME, Secunderabad

On January 28, 2026, Lieutenant General SS Dahiya, SM, VSM, who serves as the Chief of Staff at ARTRAC, visited the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Secunderabad. The purpose of the visit was to assess the institution’s training framework and its initiatives driven by innovation.

During his visit, Lt Gen Dahiya met with Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, AVSM, VSM, the Commandant of MCEME and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of EME. Lt Gen Varshney provided insights into the college’s projects that align with the Indian Army’s Decade of Transformation and HQ ARTRAC’s focus on innovation, indigenisation, and professional excellence.

The Chief of Staff toured several faculties within MCEME, where he received briefings on advanced training techniques, indigenisation efforts, and the establishment of state-of-the-art training labs. These facilities include those dedicated to Drones (Dronalaya), Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (Yantralaya), and Additive Manufacturing (Rachnalaya), emphasizing the Army’s emphasis on emerging technologies.

Lt Gen Dahiya also examined the modern infrastructure designed to support the maintenance, upgrading, and innovation of weapon systems, aviation assets, electronic warfare equipment, and communication technologies. He expressed appreciation for MCEME’s holistic approach in integrating cutting-edge technology with practical technical training.

Praising both the faculty and trainees, the Chief of Staff emphasized MCEME’s critical contribution to developing future-ready technical leaders. He acknowledged the institution’s efforts in enhancing the Indian Army’s operational prowess through innovation, self-reliance, and excellence in military education.
