On September 25, Lieutenant General Sanjay Malik, SM, General Officer Commanding 101 Area, officially opened the newly renovated Shillong Cantonment Board Vidya Bajoria Park, making it available to the residents of Shillong.

The inauguration event was graced by several notable figures, including Major General RK Jha, AVSM (Retd), Director (Personnel) of NEEPCO; Sh. Sanbor Shullai, the Minister in-charge of Art and Culture for the Government of Meghalaya; Brigadier Rajesh Verma, President of the Shillong Cantonment Board; and senior army officers alongside representatives from NEEPCO Ltd.

The park's renovation is the result of a joint initiative by the Indian Army, the Shillong Cantonment Board, and NEEPCO Ltd's Corporate Social Responsibility program, aimed at enhancing public amenities for community interaction and leisure.

During the ceremony, Lt Gen Malik emphasized the significance of community-focused projects and the impact of cooperative efforts between civil and military entities on urban development. The refurbished park now provides a revitalized setting for both locals and tourists, serving as a testament to the collaboration between military forces, local governance, and corporate sponsors.
