Lt Gen Rajiv Sahni Evaluates EME Advancements and Defence Innovation in Pune

Lt Gen Rajiv K Sahni, who holds the titles of AVSM, VSM, and PhD, and serves as the Director General of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (DG EME) as well as Colonel Commandant, recently paid a visit to Headquarters Southern Command in Pune. His itinerary included inspections of EME units, the Artificial Limb Centre, and prominent defence industries in the region.

While on his visit, Lt Gen Sahni evaluated the operational and technical advancements within EME establishments. He expressed his admiration for the EME units under Southern Command, citing their success in maintaining high mission reliability of crucial combat equipment. He also commended the well-structured sustenance strategies that have played a key role in ensuring operational readiness across various formations.

The General highlighted the in-house development of a drone mass production ecosystem within Southern Command, calling it a notable accomplishment that showcases the innovative spirit of EME personnel. He applauded the emphasis on cultivating a culture of innovation to address new battlefield challenges with domestic solutions.

Lt Gen Sahni further acknowledged the swift adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as additive manufacturing, robotics, and cobotics into operational processes by the Southern Command. He observed that the successful incorporation of these advancements supports the Indian Army's efforts toward technological independence and rapid modernization.
