On May 14, 2026, Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, AVSM, SM**, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, met with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to address vital issues surrounding civil-military collaboration and regional security cooperation.

This meeting represented the Army Commander’s initial formal engagement with the Punjab Chief Minister since he took command of the Western Command.

Joining the discussions were Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, Brigadier Sameer Thakkar, VSM, and Colonel Jasdeep Sandhu, who serves as the Advisor for Civil Military Affairs at the Headquarters Western Command.

The dialogue encompassed various topics such as border management, internal security, youth empowerment, the rehabilitation of Agniveers, land acquisition challenges affecting operational readiness, disaster management, Armed Forces recruitment, and welfare projects like housing initiatives for active soldiers and veterans.
