Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi Inaugurates Joint EMI/EMC Course at MCTE Mhow

Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi, VSM, who serves as the Commandant of the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) in Mhow, inaugurated the Joint EMI/EMC Course Serial 41 on January 7, 2026, with a formal address to the participating officers.

This course is attended by 16 officers from various branches, including the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, and the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA), highlighting a comprehensive tri-service and inter-agency effort in technical capacity development.

The course is divided into two phases, with the initial two-week session taking place at MCTE, followed by a three-week program at the Army Centre for Electromagnetics. The curriculum is crafted to provide a thorough understanding and practical experience regarding Electromagnetic Interference and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) issues encountered by modern military systems.

In his speech to the officers, Lt Gen Bakshi emphasized the increasing significance of electromagnetic spectrum management in today's and future warfare scenarios. He pointed out the challenges posed by complex and technology-driven platforms operating in crowded electromagnetic environments and stressed the necessity of adeptly managing EMI/EMC concerns to ensure the reliability, interoperability, and operational efficiency of sophisticated military equipment.

The Joint EMI/EMC Course is designed to arm officers with the expertise to evaluate, mitigate, and manage EMI/EMC-related challenges across different services and organizations. This initiative aims to enhance joint operations, technical cohesion, and mission readiness within the Indian Armed Forces.
