Lt Gen Pratik Sharma Assesses North Kashmir Security and High Altitude Warfare Training
Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, serving as the Army Commander for the Northern Command, conducted an inspection of forces stationed in North Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC) and in the interior regions. The purpose of the visit was to assess the current security conditions and the operational readiness of the units.
During the inspection, ground commanders provided Lt Gen Sharma with briefings on the counter-infiltration strategies, surveillance setups, and security protocols being implemented to maintain control over both the forward positions and interior areas. The discussions emphasized the importance of a solid defensive stance and the ability to respond swiftly and effectively to any emerging threats.

The Army Commander highlighted the necessity of a robust and proactive intelligence network, stressing the importance of collaboration with partner agencies to facilitate prompt, precise, and successful counter-terrorism and counter-infiltration initiatives. He praised the troops for their professionalism and alertness in their ongoing efforts to preserve peace and stability in the area.
As part of his itinerary, Lt Gen Sharma visited the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) located in Gulmarg to review the ongoing training sessions. He evaluated the institution's focus on refining operational capabilities through the adoption of modern technology, innovative methods, and updated training approaches designed for high-altitude and extreme-weather combat situations.

Lt Gen Sharma commended HAWS for its crucial role in preparing soldiers and leaders to operate in some of the world's most challenging terrains. He emphasized the importance of continually adapting training techniques to keep pace with new technologies and the evolving nature of warfare.
The visit underscored the Northern Command's dedication to maintaining high levels of operational readiness, enhancing intelligence-driven operations, and ensuring that troops are well-prepared, adaptable, and equipped to address present and future security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir.
