Lt Gen Pratik Sharma and BPCL Launch New Underground Fuel Storage Facility for Project Sena Sarthi

Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Army Commander Northern Command, and Shri Subhankar Sen, Director (Marketing) of BPCL, inaugurated an underground fuel storage facility under Project Sena Sarthi. This project is a collaborative effort between the Indian Army and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to enhance operational logistics for troops stationed in forward and high-altitude regions.

This advanced fuel installation marks a significant milestone in strategic logistics by increasing fuel storage capacity and ensuring a safe, efficient, and resilient supply chain in some of the most challenging and isolated areas along the Northern borders. Designed to endure extreme weather conditions and potential security threats, the facility will greatly improve sustained operational mobility and mission readiness.

Project Sena Sarthi exemplifies Military–Civil Fusion, merging the operational needs of the Indian Army with BPCL's expertise in fuel management and infrastructure development. This initiative demonstrates a joint commitment to self-reliance, unity, and national resilience, with the Indian Army defending the country's borders and BPCL ensuring energy supply lines.

The ceremony was also attended by Lt Gen Mukesh Chadha, Senior Colonel Commandant of the Army Service Corps, who praised the partnership and emphasized the essential role of robust logistics infrastructure in contemporary military operations.

The opening of this facility is a crucial step in strengthening the logistics support for the Northern Command, facilitating uninterrupted fuel supply to frontline troops and setting a standard for future military–civil collaborative efforts.
