Lt Gen Pendharkar Engages DSSC Delegation at Rangapahar Military Station
Dimapur, November 1, 2025 — Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, who serves as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Spear Corps, engaged with members of the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) from Wellington. This interaction took place during their visit to Rangapahar Military Station as part of the DSSC's study tour, aimed at enhancing their understanding of India's various operational environments and field formations.
The delegation, which included officers from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Indian Civil Services, and Friendly Foreign Countries, received an in-depth briefing on the Spear Corps' operational and logistical aspects. As the largest Corps of the Indian Army, the session emphasized its strategic importance in the northeastern region, its readiness for operations, and ongoing modernization efforts to maintain a strong defensive stance.

During the interaction, Lt Gen Pendharkar highlighted the significance of jointness among the three services and the need for inter-agency coordination in national defense. He provided insights into the evolving nature of warfare, the complexities of logistics planning in challenging terrains, and the role of technology in contemporary military operations.

The visit offered DSSC participants — potential future senior leaders of their respective services — an opportunity to experience the Army's operational philosophy, command structures, and ground realities firsthand. The discussions at Rangapahar contributed to the DSSC's goal of fostering strategic thinking and joint operational understanding among officers from India and its allied nations.

The presence of officers from Friendly Foreign Countries and Indian Civil Services highlighted India's dedication to enhancing civil-military cooperation and international defense engagement.
